From A Tiny Spark...

Hello there! Welcome! Here we are. I’m breaking the ice. It’s the very first blog post. Woah.

If you’ve made it this far, good for you! I have some fun ideas for the kind of content you can expect to see around here and I thought I’d break it down and explain my goals.

1

Share my work &
provide insight into
my creative process

Sometimes it can be really easy to forget all the hard work and careful planning that goes into a project when you only see the finished product.

A blog is a great place to post updates about what I’m working on and get a little more in-depth.

I’ve always loved behind-the-scenes glimpses into seeing how people do what they do best and believe there is so much value in sharing that nitty-gritty side with others.

I plan to share my own behind-the-scenes moments and inspiration alongside finished work so that you can get to know me a little better through my creative process.

Answer FAQ's,
offer tips & tricks
and fun facts

What’s the difference between embossing and debossing? Have you always wondered why certain printing methods are so much more expensive than others? What is the difference between lettering and calligraphy? How long does printing and production take? What’s a deckle? When should I send out my wedding invitations?

In the past 5 years of working as a professional graphic designer, I’ve gained valuable experience working on a wide variety of projects that required different materials, printing methods, and processes that I’ve had to troubleshoot through. That knowledge is ever-evolving with each new project I get to take on.

My goal here is to share information that I think may be especially helpful for clients, fellow wedding industry and creative professionals, and generally curious minds.

spark genuine
connections and
conversations

Freelancing can be a pretty solitary endeavour. What I miss most about my previous job is the amazing team of people I got to work with day in and day out.

So my third goal is to share content that I think other creatives can relate to. I’m thinking of featuring things like podcasts, favourite tools, sources of inspiration, and whatever else I’m excited about.

I’d love to build up a little community of creatives to swap stories and ideas, and especially collaborate with. Community over competition, amirite?

With all this in mind, this space is yet another creative outlet for me to share my thoughts and ideas but in a longer format that allows for more details and experimentation. I'm also hoping this will nudge me to keep practicing my graphics skills.
